What is a Scrum Master?
A Scrum Master is the person accountable for establishing Scrum on a team and for the team's effectiveness. They are a true leader who serves the Scrum Team, the Product Owner, and the larger organization. Critically, the Scrum Master is not a project manager or boss — they coach the team to self-manage rather than direct the work.
How do I become a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)?
To earn the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) credential from Scrum Alliance, you attend a two-day course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer, then pass a 50-question exam. escrummaster prepares you for the exam with short, exam-aligned lessons and an AI Scrum Coach grounded in the 2020 Scrum Guide.
What's the difference between CSM and PSM?
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is offered by Scrum Alliance and requires attending a two-day live course. Professional Scrum Master (PSM I, II, III) is offered by Scrum.org and is exam-only — no course required. Both certifications cover the same 2020 Scrum Guide content. escrummaster's lessons map to objectives shared by both programs.
How long does it take to prepare for the Scrum Master exam?

What is the 2020 Scrum Guide?
The 2020 Scrum Guide is the canonical definition of Scrum, co-authored by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. It defines Scrum's three accountabilities (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Developers), five events (Sprint, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective), and three artifacts (Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Increment). escrummaster bundles the full Scrum Guide in the app and the AI Scrum Coach cites it directly.
Does escrummaster cover SAFe or other scaling frameworks?
No — escrummaster focuses on Scrum Alliance lineage (CSM, A-CSM, CSP-SM) and Scrum.org (PSM I, II, III). SAFe, LeSS, Nexus, and Scrum@Scale are different frameworks with different certifications and are out of scope.
